About the event
This 18 hour course helps participants identify and dismantle heteronormative biases as psychologists (researcher, clinician, academic, therapist). Modules help develop an understanding of gender, sexual orientation, systemic and personal sources of marginalisation of queer identities. Participants will be able to embody the professional codes and standards of ethics into their vocational roles when working with Queer individuals. This is not a counseling course.

Module I:
Queerness: A Psychological History, Introduction to basic concepts
Module II:
Understanding Gender: Theoretical Perspectives on Gender, Developing Gender Identity, Undoing Heteronormative perspectives
Module III:
Ethical Principles and Standards in Psychology. Ethical Principles & Standards with emphasis on sexual minorities
Module IV:
Developing cultural competence as a Queer Affirmative Psychologist.
