Job Description

Essential responsibilities​

  • Write project reports, research manuscripts, review, and working papers

  • Design psychology research studies according to project requirements 

  • Write research and grant proposals tailored to government and non government funding agencies

  • present in research conferences and engage in myriad science communication activities 

  • Conduct statistical data analysis, data visualisation, and statistical reduction 

  • Conduct literature search, review and synthesis 

  • Assist with psychometric tool construction, translation and validation

Additional responsibilities​

  • write incisive analyses related to academic research, social and topical issues, mental health

  • data collection of ongoing research and psychometric tool construction and screening projects

  • facilitate MHA projects with research expertise

  • conduct skill based trainings (on a needs basis)

  • review and proofread research and popular press articles 

Necessary Competencies & Skills

  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative research skills

  • Ability to design studies with emphasis in empirical or theoretical frameworks

  • Ability to search, read, review, summarise and synthesise large volumes of scientific literature in a time efficient manner 

  • Academic writing, good citation and referencing practices as per various citation styles (APA 7th Ed, Harvard, MLA, etc.) 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Suite 

  • Proficient in written and spoken English for Reports, Executive Summaries, Documentation, Articles

  • Willing and able to learn on the job essential technical (software), academic writing, research skills 

  • Accountable, engages in open communication, ethical, and able to maintain participant confidentiality

  • Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously and stick with deadlines 


Desired Competencies

  • Research Software (reference management, statistical, and data visualisation): e.g. Mendeley, IBM SPSS, R Studio, STATA 

  • Background knowledge of the academic research and publishing industry 

  • Previous research publications in top tier journals

Qualifications:

Bachelors (B.A./B.Sc. Psychology) or Masters (M.A./M.Sc Psychology)
